As well as health and care organisations in England and beyond, we work closely with a number of key partners and affiliates to ensure we are at the forefront of digital health and technology.
Dr Foster maximises the benefits of being part of an international telecommunications and technology company, Telstra. We draw on their expertise in many areas but particularly with advances in technology such as the use of cloud and APIs, ensuring we are flexible and interoperable with health and care systems, to improve the way we deliver services.
Telstra is Australia’s leading telecommunications and technology company, offering a full range of communications services and competing in all telecommunications markets. It also offers a wide range of services globally including network application services and has growing interests in software, video delivery, online sales and e-Health.
Dr Foster funds the Dr Foster Unit at Imperial College London, and works closely with the Unit on developing new methodologies to assist healthcare improvement. It aims to identify variation in the delivery of healthcare using routinely collected health data, in England and in other health systems around the world.
The Unit is directed by Professor Paul Aylin, Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health. It is funded through a grant from Dr Foster and also receives funding from NIHR through the Patient Safety Translational Research Centre and other research projects.
The Unit was established in 2002 and resides within the Department of Primary Care and Public Health in the School of Public Health, part of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London.
Dr Foster is one of the suppliers of comprehensive analytics to the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, a national programme led by the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust and NHS Improvement. We collaborate with clinicians, develop clinically relevant metrics and deliver complex analyses from patient-level data for a number of specialties in the GIRFT programme.
GIRFT is a national programme designed to improve medical care within the NHS by reducing unwarranted variations. By tackling variations in the way services are delivered across the NHS, and by sharing best practice between trusts, GIRFT identifies changes that will help improve care and patient outcomes, as well as delivering efficiencies such as the reduction of unnecessary procedures and cost savings.
Dr Foster is affiliated with INTEROpen to ensure that our products and services are embracing interoperability for the benefit of our customers and partners.
INTEROPen is an action group collaborating to accelerate the development of open standards for interoperability in the health and social care sector. It includes individuals, industry standards organisations and health and care providers who have agreed to work together to improve healthcare IT interoperability in the UK.
Dr Foster sponsors the One Healthtech network as we are passionate about supporting women and people from diverse groups to flourish in health technology.

Dr Foster is affiliated with HL7UK to ensure that our products and services are embracing interoperability for the benefit of our customers and partners.
HL7UK is a voluntary association supporting the development, promotion and implementation of HL7 standards in ways which meet the needs of healthcare organisations, health professionals and healthcare software suppliers in the UK.
Dr Foster is a member of Tech UK to better understand the healthcare market, develop new relationships with key influencers and disruptors in technology and help to shape the future of healthcare analytics.
